Are you a gal (or guy) like me who has the habit of acquiring second hand furniture from family, friends or garage sales? Do you have a lot of furniture all over the place, including the basement? Do you keep it all because you just can’t get rid of it or have a “someday” project in mind? Then, I have the perfect book for you: “Amazing Furniture Makeovers: Easy DIY Projects to Transform Thrifted Finds into Beautiful Custom Pieces.” You can definitely file this one under fun!

The author is Jen Crider,  a popular DIY blogger over at Girl In The Garage. This is her first book and it is packed with large, stunning photos that show intricate, step by step details for 25 do it yourself furniture projects. It’s a fabulous tool for beginners such as myself.

Each project is designed to teach you a wide array of furniture makeover techniques, including repair, repainting, staining, decoupage, reupholstering, repurposing and more. Tools, paint, fabric and other reccomenndations and directions on how to use them are also included.

Projects range from small end tables to large dressers armoires, in a variety of styles sure to spark anyone’s imagination. They are very unique projects as well, such as repurposing a hutch into a little girls dollhouse, an old Singer treadle sewing machine into a gorgeous desk, or painting an old dresser to look like a stack of vintage suit cases.

I truly love all the projects in this book. Usually, in DIY books, no matter the DYI, I like just a few of the projects, but not all of them. This makes the book a fantastic investment. I definitely will be referring to it over and over.

I love this book and can’t wait to start my first project soon. I highly recommend it.
